Third Thursday StudiosApril 17, 2014

The Center for the Arts Foundation presents, Third Thursday Studios!

Authors, poets, visual artists, and musucians will be connecting with the public at the Gresham History Museum. In a series of fascinating and fun evenings, selected members of the arts community will share their creativity, talents, and experience as the evenings unfold.

Third Thursday Studios: An Evening With Local Author Stevan AllredOctober 17, 2013

An Evening with a Local Author : Stevan Allred

Hear local author, Stevan Allred, read from his new book, A Simplified Map of the Real World. Death and high jinks, love and rage, the ordinary things going on in the imagined, rural town of Renata, Oregon, are not so simple. In these fifteen linked short stories, a man watches his neighbor's big-screen TV through binoculars. An errant son paints himself silver for his art despite his cattle rancher father's disapproval. Mysterious humming emanates from an enormous barn. Ghosts appear.

Third Thursday Studios: Not a Poetry Fan?January 16, 2014

The Center for the Arts Foundation presents: Not a Poetry Fan? An Evening with A. Molotkov and John Sibley Williams.

Lovers and haters alike will be brought together by two local poets: A. Molotkov from Russia and John Sibley Williams, a former Bostonian. These poets paint mental pictures and stimulate thoughts in an impressionistic, sometimes obscure fashion, giving the listener the thrill of fitting the last piece into a jigsaw puzzle, or of solving a crossword.

Third Thursday Studios: Unwrapping the Symphonic GiftFebruary 20, 2014

The Center for the Arts Foundation presents: Unwrapping the Symphonic Gift with the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra.

Join 17-year-old composer Kenny Regan and explore how music flows from the composer's imagination to the printed page, and is then transformed by the musicians' performance. Kenny first started sketching his musical inspirations when only in the second grade! You will be the first to hear one of his compositions as it is performed by an ensemble from the Columbia Symphony Orchestra - a world premier!
